Our Mission
The Iowa Black History Research Collective is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating in the state of Iowa. Established in 2021, our mission is to identify Black churches that might be good candidates for historic recognition and facilitate paid research opportunities for college students. Our end goal is to accumulate sufficient narrative to suggest/submit churches for historic recognition.
The Iowa Black History Research Collective is committed to keeping Black History accessible in Central Iowa while centering the lived experience of Black people.
