Katelyn Johnson

Katelyn Johnson (she/her) is a rising third-year double majoring in Computer Science and Political Science at Grinnell College. She’s interested in the intersection of government and technology, particularly how to leverage technology to address complex societal challenges. She’s worked at The Scarlet and Black for two years and intends to use her storytelling skills gained from that experience to communicate her analyses to promote accountability and justice. In her free time, she loves to read mystery novels, try new eye makeup designs, and play sudoku.

Quincy Peterson

Quincy Peterson (He/Him) is a rising fourth year at Grinnell College studying Biological Chemistry. Born in Chattanooga, TN and being raised in Pittsburgh PA, Quincy sought out Grinnell for it’s diverse application of interdisciplinary learning and avid soical justice, stemming from a fellowship with the University of Pittsburgh where he did research on HIV/AIDS prevention and education in underserved communities in which he was able to present at the Pennsylvania State Health Department. Quincy’s passion for learning in the sciences while always emphasizing the health equity and inclusion of black people has led his course work to focus on stem and many political and sociological classes as well. He describes his goal as a focus in public health awareness/equity along with constant uplifting of black voices and stories whenever available. Serving on the Black Student Union and Black Cultural Center Advisory Board for all four years at Grinnell, he also worked on student initiatives and is currently a Nurse Aide at St. Francis Manor. Looking beyond Grinnell, Quincy hopes to acquire his masters in public health and continue to advocate for Black voices through public health/administration initiatives and research.
